LEADERS WASA left it very late, getting goals from Shervin Charles (74th) and Alvin Beharry (82nd) to come away 2-0 winners over Defence Force in the bmobile national Super League football competition on Sunday at the Chaguaramas Youth Camp.

WASA (16 points) now hold a four-point lead over inactive T&TEC, who still have two matches in hand. This coming Saturday, WASA face a tough test when they host the fifth-placed Queen's Park (11 points) from 4.30 p.m. at their St Joseph home ground.

Queen's Park are coming off a convincing 4-1 victory over Club Sando, who only the week before had inflicted the only defeat of the season on WASA.

But Club Sando were no match for the Parkites on Sunday at the Queen's Park Oval. The Parkites built a two-goal first half lead through former Fatima College midfielder Chad De Freitas (7th & 39th), before Jason Charles extended the advantage in the 60th minute.

Darren Carter was at the end of a cross-ball and scored to pull Club Sando back at 3-1 in the 77th minute, before Charles got a fourth goal for Queen's Park in the 84th minute.

Meanwhile, defending champions Joe Public (12 points) moved to third, getting second half goals from Robby Sookhai (59th) and Tyrone Charles (70th & 89th) to see off M&M Harvard by a 3-0 margin at the Marvin Lee Stadium.
