BETHEL UNITED are the new holders of the FA Cup in the Tobago Football Association.

The Bethel men lifted the cup after shutting out Lambeau 2-0 at the Cyd Gray ground.

Leading Bethel goal-scorer Duane Marcelle and Curtis Job scored one goal each to give their team the victory.

Bethel reached the final after beating Mason Hall USSS 4-3 on penalties after the teams were deadlocked 2-2 at the end of regulation and overtime at the Mt Pleasant ground.

Danny Pantin and Stefano Wright scored goals for Mason Hall while Bethel got goals from Oral Williams and Marcelle.

Lambeau marched into final on a Sherlon Baker goal to edge Golden Lane 1-0 earlier at the same venue.

But Golden Lane edged Mason Hall USSS 2-1 to take third place on two goals in the final two minutes of regulation time at the Cyd Gray ground Mason Hall USSS got a Stefano Wright goal in the 44th minute and held on to this lead until the 88th minute when Jayson Quash grabbed the equaliser.

And a last minute goal by Antonio Balfour. Gave Golden Lane the third place.

Meanwhile, when Premier Division action resumed on Wednesday, 1976 FC Phoenix grabbed only their third point of the season from a 0-0 draw with Roxborough Lakers at Canaan ground.

And Mason Hall USSS whipped Georgia FC 3-1 at Shaw Park, with Keon McPherson scoring two goals and Kevorn Adams the other, while an own-goal gave the losers their tally.

In Division One on Monday, Golden Lane and Calder Hall played out a 2- 2 draw.

Kerwin Simon scored both goals for Golden Lane while Kirsten Benjamin also doubled up for Calder Hall.

Bethel blanks Lambeau for $40,000 TFA trophy.

Duane Marcelle and Curtis Job were both on target as Bethel United blanked Lambeau FC 2-0 to capture the $40,000 Tobago Football Association FA Trophy at the Cyd Gray Recreation Ground, last Friday.

As runners-up Lambeau got $25,000, while in the all-important third place playoff, Division One’s Golden Lane stunned Premier Division club Mason Hall USSS, 2-1 for $10,000 and the final spot to the T&T Football Federation FA competition.
 
For Mason Hall, Antonio Balfour capped a late rally with a 90th minute strike after Jayvon Quash netted two minutes earlier to cancel out Stefano Wright’s 44th minute opener for Mason Hall, which took home $5,000 for fourth.

In the semifinal round played a week earlier, Bethel United stopped Mason Hall, which had accounted for title-holders Roxborough Lakers, in the quarterfinal 4-3 on penalties after a 2-2 draw, while Golden Lane slipped past Lambeau 1-0 courtesy a Sherlon Baker strike.

Meanwhile, Mason Hall USSS shrugged off its disappointment of missing out on securing a national FA spot with a 3-1 whipping of Georgia to move into a four-way tie for first in the TFA Premier Division.

Keon Mc Pherson scored twice and Kevorn Adams, the other for Mason Hall on Wednesday, while Georgia benifitted from an own goal.

The win carried Mason Hall USSS to 13 points from eight matches, the same as Taylor Rentals Goal City which leads on goal-difference with has a match in hand, while Sidey’s and Lambeau are also on 13 points.

In the other Premier Division match, Lakers missed a chance to close to within two points of top spot after it was held to a 0-0 draw by cellar-placed 1976 Phoenix FC.
