Whim too good for Bon Accord in Tobago

The victory ended Whim’s losing streak in finals in the last two years against Bon Accord.

Dion Job scored the first goal in the tenth minute, while Domonic Alfred, captain Gereeb Louis and Tyreek Richards were the other scorers in the 25th, 45th, and 50th minutes.

Louis led the attack for Whim as Richards, Alfred and Nigel Baynes made early inroads in the Bon Accord defence.

Job got the opening goal when he fired in a receiving a pass from Louis. Kylon Brathwaite set up the move, running down the left side. Alfred almost made it two in the next minute when he slipped by a defender but was fouled. Louis used his height advance throughout the game by leaping and out running the Bon Accord strikers. He almost scored when he had a powerful shot at goal from the top of the penalty box, but the ball went wide.

Kyle Jack almost responded for Bon accord in the 13th minute passing to Hamilton Bristol but defender Daniel Marcelle cleared well for Whim. Alfred pestered the Bon Accord defenders down the right, often eluding the much taller defender Arion George.

The quick attacker was eventually rewarded when he slotted a ball from Richards from a corner in the 25th minute sending the Whim cheering side of pupils and villagers into a frenzy. Alfred and Louis had several chances to add to the tally but goal keeper Alexander made some crucial saves. The first half ended 2-0.

On resumption, Louis scored in the 45th minute when he fired in a long range, left foot shot from outside the penalty box, leaving the keeper little chance. Richards got Whim’s fourth when he lobbed a shot over the advancing keeper.

Substitute Nickoli Ince had his chance to get his team’s fifth in the 70th minute but his long cross was met by Oshea Williams to give Whim a corner.

The defeat ended a string of victories by Bon Accord, who took the Tobago and National Primary Schools titles in 2012, beating Whim on each occasion.
