DEFENDING champions Stokely Vale began their title defence on a positive note courtesy of a slim 1-0 win over former champs Georgia United as action in the Premier Division of the Tobago Football Association (TFA) continued at various venues in Tobago last weekend.

Shannon Sandy was the marksman for the Plymouth outfit--who dethroned Georgia in 2008--in the opening affair of a double-header at Canaan on Sunday.

In the second game, St Clair Coaching School also enjoyed an easy triumph to start their campaign, a 3-1 win over Hills United. Rodney Nelson, Carron Williams and Anderson Taylor scored for Coaching School, who last won the title in 2004.

Taylor's Rental Goal City and Earlbrokes also picked up full points to begin their quest for end-of-season spoils.

Goal City were 2-1 victors over newly promoted Black Rock United at Goodwood. Akini Ferguson and Kayode Legall were on target for Goal City. Philbert Douglas replied for the losers.

And Anton Roberts and Kelvern Lovelace netted a goal each for Earlbrokes who secured a 2-1 win over Sidey's, who got their item from Nick Quashie.

In First Division action on Saturday, Goodwood and Federal Northside FC played to a 1-1 draw at Roxborough. Kerlon Haydes netted for Goodwood and Juma George did the trick for Northside.

Also on Saturday, Carnbee/Mt Pleasant hammered Bethel United 5-1 at Mt Pleasant. David Gill counted a brace, while there was a goal each for Keon Quashie, James Thomas and Dominique Roberts.  Joel Moore had the consolation effort for Bethel United.

On the same day, Leroy Kerr netted a double for 1976 FC Phoenix to stop Signal Hill 2-1 at Signal Hill. Steffon Hector registered the item for home team Signal Hill.
