In just one match, Hugo Francis Group leader Eagles conceded twice as many goals than it had throughout the season, when it was handed a 4-0 whipping by second placed Cunupia FC, in the second match of a Central Football Association (CFA) Premier Division double-header, at the Hugo Francis Recreation Ground, Chaguanas, on Friday.

Bobinton King scored in either half for a double, while Dillon Walker and Akel James also found the back of the net in the second to put Cunupia within three points of the top of the table. 

It was Eagles’ first loss of the season, in what was before an almost flawless league campaign following seven consecutive wins. The Hugo Francis Group was scheduled to see a meeting between third and fourth placed Perseverance Ball Runners and Perseverance United, respectively, but the match faield to kick off.

The the Henry Francis Group, leader Coosal’s Las Lomas was handed a second defeat of the season, a 1-0 loss by Edinburgh 500. 

Stephen Julian scored the winner for Edinburgh in the 56th minute. Meanwhile, Harlem Strikers overtook Fire Services for fifth place when it defeated rock-bottom Cap Off Youths in a 9-3 thriller at Frederick Settlement Ground, Caroni. 

Gregory Maloney scored a hat-trick for the winning team, while Daniel Wells aided with a brace.
