Stigmatized as a ‘criminal hot spot’, the Malabar Football club is determined to prove that the Malabar community can offer positivity and showcase pure talent as they continue to house top class players.

Malabar FC has once again added 4 transfers to their already star studded roster. With the addition of local players former W Connection player Rennie Britto from San Juan Jabloteh, Shane Calderon from WASA FC and young Kerdell Chairman from Santa Rosa FC, along with Jamaican Under 23 international Jevaughn Hutchinson, Malabar continues to show zeal and commitment to winning this year’s Super League Title.

At just twenty one years old, Hutchinson has already made a significant mark in the football world. He is a member of the Jamaica national team and Olympic U-23 team. His last club team was East Portmore.

“I believe that Malabar has a lot to offer, not only with my addition but from seeing other players. I can confidently say that we have a lot of talent that we are going to forcefully bring out,” said Hutchinson, the former Gent FC, Belgium based player.

Councilor for the Malabar community and Managing Director of the club, Kieron Edwards, stated that Malabar is taking no short cuts this season. Working with him both on and off the pitch is an exceptional team of dedicated and professional personnel.

Going all out for this season, with some changes in both management and technical staff, Edwards is dauntless about the performance that his team will provide.

“We have recruited some very strong talent from around the region. We have young vibrant players who are showing consistency and progress every training session. Their attitudes are remarkable and with a combination of discipline, natural and nurtured talent, I can assure you that Malabar will be topping the league this year,” stated Edwards.

“The direction that Malabar is currently pursuing is a very fast paced one. As a result, we cannot afford to sit back, therefore we have included players like Kerdell Chairman who is an excellent upcoming midfielder; along with Britto and Calderon, who are seasoned players and can bring a difference to our team.”

Following the postponement of two matches due to travelling technicalities, Malabar will finally step up to the task as they meet Gold City FC on Sunday at the Plymouth Recreation ground in Tobago. As they commence their season, it is the Arima based team’s penultimate goal to include the community to come out and support the team.
