Speyside High School boys Championship division team, winners of the InterCol and League Championship titles were the toast of Tobago Zone of the Trinidad and Tobago Secondary Schools Football Association prize giving function.

The event was hosted at the Shaw Park conference room on March 5. However, team and individual awards were shared among five teams, Speyside High, Scarborough Secondary, Bishop’s High School, Mason Hall Government Secondary and Signal Hill Secondary School.

Speyside’s Brandon Benjamin and Bishop’s High School (BHS) Crystal Taylor won the awards for the boys and girls, ‘Player of the Year,’ respectively. Benjamin played a pivotal role in his team’s success this season and was the second leading goal scorer in Trinidad and Tobago with 29 goals, while Taylor scored some important goals for BHS.

Speyside High School had three of the five players named in the ‘Five Players of the Year’. They were Mackini De Noon, Weah Adams, former National Under 17 player and Benjamin, while Mason Hall Government Secondary’s Akini James and Brandon Joseph completed the cast.

There were two BHS players in the girls version in Crystal Taylor and Nateisha Radgman, while Signal Hill Government Secondary’s Asha James, Speyside High School’s, Tsianne Leander who is a National player and Scarborough Secondary’s Shalizah James were the others.

Scarborough Secondary School’s Aliyah Charles and Cherise Roberts and Speyside High School’s Brandon Benjamin were named in the Trinidad and Tobago Secondary Schools All Star teams.

In the team awards, Speyside High School captured the League Championship and InterCol titles, while Bishop’s High School were the girls League Championship title, Scarborough Secondary School – InterCol girls Open and Under 16 boys titles and Goodwood High School, the Under 14 boys title.
