As this country’s National Under 17 men stepped up their preparations this week for the upcoming Caribbean Football Union Final Round of World Cup qualifiers, captain John-Paul Rochford and his teammates had the distinct honour of being joined on the training pitch by former Manchester United star and ex-National Team captain Dwight Yorke on Monday at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva.

Trinidad and Tobago Football Association President David John-Williams on Friday introduced former national captain and ex-Senior Team head coach Russell Latapy as the new head coach of the Men’s National Under 17 Team ahead of the upcoming Caribbean Football Union Final round of qualification for the 2017 FIFA Under 17 World Cup.

On the job for just under a month, former Trinidad and Tobago football maestro Russell Latapy is working feverishly with the National Under 17 Men’s Team to get them fully ready for the upcoming Caribbean Football Union Final Round of Under 17 World Cup qualifiers which takes place in this country from September 16th-25th.

National Under 17 Men’s Team head coach Ken Elie is continuing to monitor the progress of a 30-man squad during ongoing preparations for the Caribbean Football Union Final round of qualification slated to take place in Trinidad in September.

Former Trinidad and Tobago goalkeeper and current ESPN football pundit Shaka Hislop believes that local football stands to benefit tremendously from the services of Russell Latapy as head coach of the National Under 17 team and his involvement with the development of the other youth teams over the two-year period he has agreed to serve the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Under 17 Men’s Head Coach Ken Elie has selected a 26-man squad that will continue preparations towards the final round of Caribbean Football Union Under 17 World Cup qualifiers to be staged in T&T in September.

Former Trinidad and Tobago captain Dwight Yorke has hailed the appointment of Russell Latapy as Head Coach of the National Under 17 Team by the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association.

A 40-member squad of under-17 footballers is in deep training with their aim to make it to the age-group World Cup in India next year.
