For the men that took the field for the InterCol Nostalgia Football Tournament at St Mary's Ground at Serpentine Road, St Clair on Saturday, it was an opportunity to renew ties that for some, stretched back 50 years.

In certain sports blood and violence is expected, but often it occurs within the confines of a ring or a cage. But those elements found their way onto the field in the Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) in what can only be described as an act of football hooliganism.

South Zone players, Qwesi Weston of Shiva Boys Hindu College and Kayla Taylor of Debe Secondary were recognised as the top players of the recently concluded season, when the Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) staged its annual awards ceremony, at the Plaza de Montrose, Chaguanas, yesterday.

Red was the colour of celebration yesterday, as St Anthony’s College clawed their way to yet another national Coca Cola InterCol title after a testing 2-0 victory over St Augustine Secondary at Hasely Crawford Stadium.
