Four candidates for the Trinidad and Tobago Pro League must prove today that they can meet the league's financial requirements.
Marabella Flames, South End, 1976 Angostura Phoenix FC and St Clair Coaching School applied for Pro League berths and should have been told their fate on Ash Wednesday. However, the four clubs asked for extra time before submitting a final proposal to the Pro League executive.

Pro League CEO Dexter Skeene said there will be no further extensions.

"They called and asked for a further extension to a man," said Skeene. "We are giving them until Friday (today) but that is it."

The four clubs, according to Skeene, have already proved proper administration and club structure, while they also have home venues and youth programmes--adopted or otherwise. But they must still supply the $400,000 affiliation fee required, while Phoenix and St Clair, both Tobago clubs, must also show they can cope with the high cost of travel between the islands.

The Pro League wrote to the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) for financial assistance, on behalf of the clubs, but is yet to get an official response. Police FC have already been accepted back into the Pro League, after a year off, and they replace North East Stars.

The remaining nine local top-flight clubs can expect prize money from last season by mid-March as Skeene confirmed that the executive committee was "finalising audits" for the Sport Ministry.
