Stefan St. LouisThe Oakland University men's soccer team scored two goals off corner kicks as junior Stefan St. Louis and senior Ian Daniel each netted goals, and senior Steve Clark recorded his 10th shutout of the season, making two saves, to lead the Golden Grizzlies (12-4) to their fifth straight win, defeating Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, 2-0, in front of a record crowd of 1,405 fans on Saturday night at the Ultimate Soccer Arena. OU has outscored its opponents 11-0 over the last five games.

"It was a tale of two halves," said OU coach Gary Parsons. "We played well in the first half, moved the ball around well, but didn't create as many chances as we would have liked, and we certainly did well on our set pieces. The second half we just stopped playing. Good first half and very average second half."

Both goals of the game came early in the first half off consecutive corner kicks in the second and fourth minute marks of the game. Senior Martin Sandell sent a nice ball to the far side of the box and after a scrum, St. Louis came away with a shot close in and buried it to give OU a 1-0 lead. Two minutes later freshman Michael Robinson took the corner kick and headed a pass to Daniel who in turn headed it past the goalkeeper for the 2-0 margin.

Oakland had 15 shots, seven corner kicks and 15 fouls, while SIUE had six shots, five corner kicks and nine fouls.

The Golden Grizzlies will host UMKC for a battle for the regular season league championship next Saturday, Nov. 8. Game time is set for 1 p.m. at the OU Soccer Field and can be followed via live stats at www.ougrizzlies.com.
