Youth footballers from various Primary and Secondary Schools across T&T will fill the Queens Park Oval in St Clair on Saturday, to compete for top honours in the inaugural Queen’s Park Cricket Club (QPCC) Schools Football Festival.

The event starts at 9 am and will include some 60 boys’ and girls’ teams, competing in a one day five-a-side competition, testing their physical ability, skills and technique, as well as understanding of the game, while developing their social skills among their peers.

The Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs together with ace international player Kenwyne Jones of Premiership club Stoke City in the UK, are the sponsors of the festival, which will be split into two divisions —Under-13 and U-16—for both boys and girls categories.

Prizes will be distributed to the winner of each of the four divisions along with special prizes for the Most Valuable Players (MVP), top goalscorers, best goalkeepers and the coaches of the winning teams. The Kenwyne Jones award will be given to the best player of the Festival. The entrance fee is $20 and will be applicable to adults and children over 12 years of age.
