TRINITY COLLEGE has been promoted to the 2006 Championship Division after playing eight matches, winning seven and losing one in the North Zone Senior Division of the Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) 2005.

In the process, Trinity scored 24 goals and conceded just six.

Their sole defeat was a thrilling 2-1 loss to Belmont Boys’ Government Secondary School at the Trinity College Football Ground, Moka, recently.

"The highlights of our drive to championship promotion," said the Moka Boys manager Derek Parker, "was a 5-1 thrashing of Blanchisseuse High School, a 9-0 demolition of the Maple Leaf International School and a 5-3 victory over Diego Martin Secondary in a pulsating, see-saw dog fight in their backyard." He praised the outstanding team effort of the Trinity footballers, particularly the inspirational and forceful coaching of the experienced Terrance "Zaglou" Boyce.

"Zaglou’s leadership was greatly responsible for the squad qualifying for the 2006 Championship Division. Other major contributions came from our midfielder and captain Kendall Sealy, who scored five of his team’s goals this season and who the manager described as a gifted and intelligent young leader," he said.

Parker singled out Brandon Wilson, Richard Ayers and Randy Primus for "their skill, versatility and sheer will to win, thus inspiring their teammates onto victory."

"A huge contribution was also made," he stated, "by the diminutive crowd favourite Kairon ‘Bucky’ Joseph, the silky, dangerous left footer Kyle Tesheira and the division’s toughest defender Akil ‘The Rock’ Knights." He commended Trinity’s top goal scorer, Vickern Hunte, who scored nine goals, including a seven goal blitz against Maple Leaf which is a college record.

As for the 2006 Championship Division, he said Trinity will be embarking on a series of preparatory matches against higher level youth teams.

"We are going to be in a constant state of preparedness and looking very seriously at improving our physical preparation, particular in nutrition and weight training," he said.
