Renato Ramlochan's first goal of the season was enough to break Newman's five-game scoreless streak, and gave the Jets a 1-0 win over St. Mary's Friday evening at a chilly Wilkins Field.
The scoreless drought continued into the second frame until the 62nd minute when the Jets finally caught a break. Joe Gerant found Renato Ramlochan from the corner of the box, and Ramlochan headed the ball past STMU keeper Brett Collier and into the back of the net for his first goal of the season, and the only goal of the game, as Newman held on for the 1-0 win. The win was their second of the season over St. Mary's, and their first in six games. Coincidentally, prior to Friday night's win, the Jets' last wiin was the 3-2 decision over St. Mary's on Sept. 20 in San Antonio.
With the win, the Jets improve to 3-9-2 on the season, and 2-4 in Heartland play. They will play their final home game of the season Sunday when they host Texas A&M International in a 1 p.m. match at Wilkins Field.
