Iona College men's soccer sophomore Jesse Fullerton and freshman Franklin Castellanos have been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively.  Fullerton, a goalkeeper from Weston, FL, and Castellanos, a midfielder from Dover, NJ, have both had impressive debut seasons for the Maroon & Gold.

During the previous week of action, Fullerton made eight saves with an .889 save percentage in two complete games for Iona.  In a 3-0 victory at Manhattan, he earned his fourth career shutout and sixth overall win, making two stops in the contest.  Fullerton saved six to keep his team in the hunt in what was a very close match at Saint Peter's to start the weekend.

Castellanos scored the game-winning goal in the triumph over the Jaspers, putting Iona on the board with the 33rd minute tally.  He added an assist later in the match to push his point total to three.

The Gaels will complete the 2010 regular season at home after having gone 4-2 in their last six outings.  With two games remaining, Iona is currently fourth in the league standings.  The squad hosts ninth-place Rider on Nov. 5 and third-place Loyola on Nov. 7.
