On Sunday 19th December DIRECTV North East Stars will be holding their annual Christmas Extravaganza at Ojoe Rd Recreational Ground Sangre Grande.

The event will open at 1pm with family events including face painting and bouncy castles. There will also be distribution of 1500 free toys and goodie bags, ice cream and fries to specially invited children from the Sangre Grande Region.

At 3pm there will be a DIRECTV North East Stars Champion of Champions Invitational Football Tournament match. Following the match, there will be a Christmas Parang with DJs and  live performers.

The Carib beer tent will be open throughout the event and there will also be barbeque food available. Admission is $25 for adults and children under 16 are free.

North East Stars C.E.O. Brent Sancho said "There were over 2,000 people ast last years event. But folowing on from our success in winning the Lucozade Shield Trophy, reaching the FA Cup semi finals and being the only team to beat Defence Force in the Pro League all season, we expect to achieve an attendance of over 3,000 people at this event."
 
Operations Director, Kevin Harrison said "We had originally intended the centrepiece of this event to be North East Stars first home game for 2 years, but unfortunately, the playing surface is still not suitable to host Pro League matches. That said, the Champion of Champions tournament is attracting a lot of interest due to the good quality of football on display"

North East Stars have created the DIRECTV North East Stars Champion of Champions Invitational Football Tournament with a first prize of $25,000.  The tournament is currently in the midst of its group stages with 8 teams from the North East Region competing in 2 groups.
   
On January 1st North East Stars will be holding the 2011 North East carnival launch which will feature the final and 3rd place play off of the DIRECTV North East Stars Champion of Champions Invitational Football Tournament at Ojoe Rd. Kick off for the 3rd place match will be at 2pm, with the Final at 3.30pm.

After the trophy presentation there will be DJs and a live performance by Shurwayne Winchester. The Carib beer tent will be open until the event closes at 1 a.m. with a short firework display. Admission is $25 before 6pm and $50 after 6pm.
 
"We expect to achieve in excess of 2,500 people to this event." said North East Stars events co ordinator, Khaty Martin-Jones. "This will be a fantastic way of welcoming the New Year and begin to build that Carnival feeling"
