Take That and Cool It moved joint top of the Caribbean Welders Fishing Pond league standings on Monday with a 2-0 victory over defending champions Dream Team.

“Cool It”, playing arguably the best football in the league, look set for glory this season and showed they meant business in a top-of-the- table clash against last year’s champions.

They got the job done with goals on either side of the halftime interval. Andell Allsop opened the scoring while Brendon Figuera doubled the lead in the second half as “Cool It” shut out their more youthful rivals.

On Tuesday, North Oropouche scraped a goalless draw against the slumping Gremio FC as round robin action continued at the Fishing Pond Recreation Ground.

Despite being in different halves of the table, it was the lowly North Oropouche that fashioned the better chances on the day. After a grind out first half, North Oropouche had an excellent opportunity to break the deadlock but the Gremio goalie was at the right spot at the far post to save a point black header off a corner kick.

At the other end, though, Gremio began to pile on the pressure but their radar was off as they failed to really test their opponents’ goalkeeper.

In the end it was North Oropouche that finished the happier side with a point to their name.

Meanwhile on Sunday, Xpress Overcome slammed Santos 5-0 to continue their climb up the standings. David Powers made it 1-0 in the opening period before the floodgates opened upon the resumption of the second half. A double from Marvin Crooks was supplemented by a goal each from Micha Marshall and Anthony Diaz to help Xpress move into seventh in the table.

In other matches, Cosmos All-Stars beat North Oropouche 2-0; Hill Toppers notched their first win with a 2-1 result over Fleming FC; Coca All-Stars beat Spartans 2-1; G Madrid thumped Gremio 3-0; Boys Town edged Quash Trace 3-1; Blu Magic got past Manzan 2-1 and G Madrid beat Spartan 3-0.
