DEFENDING FYZABAD Community Football League Knockout champions Boca Juniors will be hoping to make a clean sweep of titles when they face off against tournament debutants ASAP FC in the much anticipated final at the Petrotrin Recreation Grounds, Fyzabad, today from 3.45 pm.

Boca, who earlier captured the opening Fyzabad Community Cup trophy and the coveted League title, will be hoping to finish the season undefeated and with all the major trophies to their name.

Led by the league’s leading goalscorer Keston Grant, Boca Juniors defeated arch rivals New Comers FC 3-1 in a keenly contested semi-final last Sunday.

ASAP FC, who placed fifth in the league, will also be hoping for another upset in their favour against the league champions. On Thursday, the newcomers defied all odds when they defeated a full strength Gallows United FC 2-0 to earn a spot in today’s final.

The Fyzabad Community Football League which is in its 29th year is noted for producing top players who went on to represent the country nationally.

One such player was Bertrand “Bertie” Noel who passed away recently. Noel will be honoured with a posthumous award for the contribution he made to the development of the league as a player of the now defunct Juventus FC.

The league continues to be grateful to main-sponsor Petrotrin and its predecessor companies for the use of its facility and other support also acknowledges community sponsor Ralo’s Tent Rental and its former sponsor Tiger Tanks Trinidad Unlimited. Member of Parliament for Fyzabad, Chandresh Sharma, as well as Petrotrin officials, have been invited for today’s closing ceremony.
