CHIKE CARRERA scored a second half double as Cumuto Strike Force trounced Global Encounter Ministries (GEMS) 5-1 on Saturday in the Churches Football League Grand Knockout Final, at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya.
This game brought down the curtains on the 2014 Churches Football League, with Cumuto adding this title to their Champion of Champions League crown, while GEMS were triumphant in the Big Four competition.
In Saturday’s Grand Knockout Final, GEMS took an early lead courtesy a freekick from Dacien John, but Ronald Boyce equalised with a 11th minute penalty.
Stephan Guevara gave Cumuto the go-ahead goal in the 36th minute, while Carrera put the game beyond GEMS’ reach, with strikes in the 67 th and 79th minutes. Earl Byron also got his name on the scoresheet, in the 76th, as Cumuto ended the season in convincing fashion.
