THE TRINIDAD and Tobago Under-17 football team captured the Girls Under-18 crown, as the 15th annual Carapichaima Youth Super League Football tournament ended recently.


The Under-17 squad completed an unbeaten campaign with a 5-0 trouncing of Diego Martin Central United. Reanan Campbell registered a hat-trick, in the fifth, 13th and 33rd minutes, while Alexis Fortune scored in the 25th and Nia Honore in the 47th.

The Under-17 team ended with a maximum of 15 points, three more than Waterloo Starlets, who edged Crown Trace 1-0. Shenikka Samuel (24th) was the goal-getter for Waterloo.

Third-placed St Ann’s Rangers (seven points) were held to a goalless draw by Jewels Sports Club.

SKHY FC also inflicted a 5-0 hammering, on Cap Off Youths, in the final of the Boys Under-15s. Twon Grannum (14th, 24th and 35th) notched a treble, while Kalev Keil (seventh) and Enrique Romero (18th) contributed one apiece.

Crown Trace pipped Tunapuna Titans 1-0 in the third-place playoff, with Nicholas Collins (third) on target.

SKHY FC also clinched the Boys Under-17 title after a 1-0 win over Cap Off Youths, courtesy of an item in the 35th from Tshad Selvon, while Crown Trace took third after defeating Peters Field United 2-0 with goals from Kerwin Mitchell (15th) and Theophilius Bourne (23rd).

In the Boys Under-20, Edinburgh 500 needed kicks from the penalty spot to get the better of Crown Trace 4-3 in the final, after a 1-1 result at the end of regulation time. Casim Keller scored for Crown Trace in the 12th while Carlton Alfonso replied in the 37th.

The bronze medals went to Trincity Nationals, who eased past Cap Off Youths 2-0. Kwesi Windsor (eighth and 19th) scored both goals for Trincity.
