Keron Brooks netted a double as Club Sando trounced Queen’s Park 4-1 in a Group “A” Under-16 Division clash, as the National Youth League playoffs continued on Tuesday.

Brooks found the back of the net in the 40th and 48th minutes, while Kernel Cooper scored in the 61st and Wasym Stewart completed the one-sided result in the 80th.

Melvin Mota got the Parkites’ consolation strike in the 50th.

In Group ‘B’, 1976 FC Phoenix moved atop the standings after a hard- fought 3-2 win over Point Fortin Civic Centre.

Jem Gordon gave Phoenix a two-goal cushion, in the 23rd and 33rd, before Jabeez Primus responded with a double, in the 40th and 51st.

But Makeil McKenzie was the hero for Phoenix, as he scored the game- winner in the 75th. In the Under-18 Division, Harvard lost a pair of games by default (and 3-0 margins), to Club Sando and Joe Public respectively.

Aaron Auguste and Andre Rampersad netted a double each as 1st FC Santa Rosa moved a step closer to the title with a 6-0 mauling of bmobile Joe Public in the National Youth League Under-16 Playoff on Wednesday.

Auguste started the ball rolling finding the opener in the 6th minute, before completing his double in the 18th to give his team a 2-0 advantage.

It remained that way until the second half when Rampersad got into the action, with the first of his two in the 60th, before making it made it 4-0 in the 72nd minute. Chad Paul got his name on the score sheet with a strike in the 79, which was proceeded by an Anthony Smith goal a minute later to make it 6-0.

Santa Rosa which has played unbeaten in its four matches, has now moved to 12 points, six clear of second place Club Sando.

Meanwhile Sando led by a double from Keron Brooks eased to a 4-1 win over QPCC. Brooks gave his team the lead five minutes before the end of the first half, before doubling the lead three minutes into the second period.

Melvin Mota cut the lead when he found the net in the 50th minute, 2-1. However, Kernel Cooper added Sando’s third in the 61st minute, before Wasym Stewart put the icing on the cake with a strike in the 80th, for a 4-1 win.
