Khandahar captain Kevin Bruce netted a double in his team’s shock 2-0 win over Global Encounter Ministries (GEMS) in the Premiership Division- Group A of the Churches Football League 2011 on Saturday.
Playing at the Queens Park Savannah, Port-of-Spain, the newly promoted team, Khandahar, was the first and only side to disrupt GEMS’ path, handing them their first loss in two seasons thanks to midfielder Bruce’s two goal brace.
In group B action last Thursday, Divine Encounter got the better of Woodbrook 4-3 in an intense battle. Josiah Khan’s double was the difference between the two sides, with the two other goals for Divine Encounter coming from Dale Farfan and Dillon Peterson.
Joel Jessup, Garvin John and Justin Busby grabbed a goal each for Woodbrook. Divine Encounter played another match on Sunday but were no match for their opponents Daybreak who walked away 4-1 winners.
Garvin Osborne netted two, while Elijah Robert and Jesse Bailey got one each for Daybreak. Sean Cato scored Divine’s consolation effort.
