Five different players were on target as FC Santa Rosa defeated FC Maloney 5-2 in the Eastern Football Association Premiership Division on Sunday, to put the club on top of the 10-team league.
Osei Sandy opened within three minutes, before Michael Hospedales, Robert Alexic and Ethan Robinson scored the other goals to put Santa Rosa up 4-0 at the half. Maloney came out stronger in the second, with Kerion Clarke and Khalid Crichlow, scoring within five minutes of the restart.
Santa Rosa, however, kept Maloney at Bay for the remainder of the fixture and even found a late item from Christopher Young in the 90th minute.
The win put Santa Rosa two points ahead of Joe Public who were held 1-1 by third place Valtrin United. In the first Division, a double from Kevin Mongo, and lone goals from Richard Seetahal and Keshaun Bernard gave Tunapuna Titans a 4-1 lift over Pinto United.
Othieno Charles scored in the second half for the losing team. Leaders Boss FC were 2-0 winners over Barataria Ball Players. The team scored their goals in either half of the match, from Yuhanna Scott and Anthony Applewhite respectively.
