OJ SOLDADO FC lifted the inaugural Southern Football Association (SFA) Anthony Cook Knockout Tournament trophy after a 3-0 drubbing of Siparia Spurs at Skinner Park, San Fernando on Sunday.

OJ Soldado were unbeaten in the two-day competition and deservedly copped the challenge trophy and the top prize of $10,000. Runners-up, Siparia Spurs received $4,000 and a trophy

The championship match was keenly contested by OJ Soldado and Siparia Spurs. Both teams struck the woodwork on numerous occasions in the first-half. However, OJ Soldado were soon rewarded for their hard work with a 28th minute strike by forward Sherlan Griffith which they held the lead at the half-time interval.

On the resumption, Dexter Alleyne added another goal to OJ Soldado’s tally with his 66th minute scorcher.

Minutes from the final whistle Griffith scored his second and OL Soldado’s third, with a looping header that left the Siparia Spurs goalkeeper stranded.

Earlier, Brickfield Falcons hammered TTEC 5-1 to finish third.

Despite the difficult ground conditions, TTEC’s Brendon Burke opened the scoring in the sixth minute.

Burke meant business and netted another for TTEC team in the 18th minute.

Kevon Christopher gave Brickfield Falcons hope, pulling one back in the 25th minute.

In the second-half, TTEC opened the floodgates as Dwight Charles found the back of the net twice in the 68th and 71st minute.

Williams Garcia concluded the romp when he netted in the 79th.

SFA President, Rudy Thomas thanked tournament sponsor Anthony Cook, for his invaluable contribution.
