Last season’s champion WASA FC will begin its defense of the Blink/bmobile National Super League title when it faces Club Sando, at WASA Ground, St Joseph, in one of four Match Day One fixtures scheduled to play today.

Despite Vernon Wilson’s 89th minute winner, which saw Bethel United secure a 2–1 victory, Malabar remained an automatic qualifier for this year’s National Super League competition, after it finished second in the six-team qualifying tournament.

Recent TT Pro League signing Darren Mitchell was recognised as the top performer in last year’s blink/bmobile National Super League, when the second tier football competition held its annual awards ceremony and launch at the Queen’s Park Oval, St Clair, on Tuesday, days before the new season is due to kick off.

THE NATIONAL Super League Qualifying Competition will end today with three matches, each starting at 4 pm.

THE Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) is today expecting to resolve a protest  which could lead to a delayed start to the semi-professional National Super League football competition, which is expected to kick off next month.

A PROTEST lodged by Bethel United, against the eligibility of a player from Guaya United, have resulted in the cancellation of the final round of matches in the National Super League Qualifying competition.

Malabar FC, the Eastern Football Association champions, will still play in the National Super League in 2013 despite losing their final match of the National Super League Qualifying Competition 2-1 to Tobago champions Bethel United.

FORMER ST VINCENT/Grenadines striker Shandel Samuel registered a beaver-trick as Malabar FC drubbed St Francois Nationals 4-0 at the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) O’Meara, Arima last Wednesday, in the Fourth Round of action in the National Super League.
