GUAYA UNITED regained the top spot in the CNG National Super League Premiership Division after Match Day 18 action on Thursday.

Guaya inflicted a 3-1 beating on their hosts WASA FC while overnight leaders Defence Force were beaten 3-2 by fellow servicemen Police.

At the WASA Ground in St Joseph, Guaya had a 2-0 halftime lead courtesy of a double from striker Carlon Hughes. But WASA halved the deficit courtesy of a 50th minute own goal, before in-form captain/ assistant coach Ryan Stewart got Guaya’s third in stoppage time.

At the Police Barracks, Defence Force took the lead against their hosts through Josimar Belgrave in the 19th. However, Police responded with goals in either half, from Colin Williams in the 32nd and Jason Boodram in the 56th.

Michael Edwards scored Defence Force’s second goal in the 59th but Boodram netted Police’s winner in the 77th.

Tobago FC Phoenix 1976 (formerly 1976 FC Phoenix) stayed in third place after a close 2-1 win over Bethel United. Shelton Williams gave Phoenix a two-goal cushion, with strikes in the 17th and 23rd, and they held on for full points at the Montgomery Recreation Ground, despite a 64th minute response from Densyl James.

Siparia Spurs displaced FC Santa Rosa for fourth spot after a pulsating 5-3 win, against Santa Rosa, at the Petrotrin Ground in Fyzabad.

Andy London (12th and 51st) and Chris Collins (33rd and 68th) scored twice while Shavon Frederick (27th) also scored for Siparia Spurs. For Santa Rosa, Jovan Rochford (77th and 83rd) and Jean-Paul Aqui- Blanc (65th) found the back of the net.

At the Manny Ramjohn Stadium in Marabella, Matura Re United came from a 3-0 hole to defeat Marabella Family Crisis Centre 4-3.

Renefor Martin (fourth), Kevin Moodie (ninth) and an own goal (24th) put the hosts in a comfortable position but Matura dug deep and fought back with strikes from Dorian Robinson (45th), Zavion Navarro (62nd) and Joel Hoyte (66th). And, with a minute of regulation time remaining, Shervin Charles got his name on the scoresheet to complete the comeback for Matura.

Stokely Vale recorded their second straight victory of the season as they pipped defending champions Club Sando Moruga 1-0, courtesy of a 41st minute own goal, at the Plymouth Recreation Ground.

The game between Petrotrin Palo Seco and NLCB La Horquetta SA, originally set for the Palo Seco Velodrome, was postponed due to an issue with the floodlights at the venue.
