Last season’s “giant-killers” Carapichaima will be no pushover again this year in the BG T&T Secondary Schools Football League, according to coach Lawrence Rondon. The Central Zone champion team will start the defence of its zonal title today against Gasparillo at Guaracara Park, Pointe-a-Pierre, from 3.45 pm. Carapichaima drew a bye in its opening match on Tuesday while Gasparillo turned back Waterloo 3-1 in an upset. Carapichaima will be without the services of forwards Neil Woodroof, Andre Mohammed, Phillip “Judah” Wickham and stopper Andre Nichols. But coach Rondon has found a reliable replacement for Nichols in Kevin Dick, formerly of Waterloo, and is awaiting the arrival of three top players from other schools.
