Presentation College San Fernando shocked reigning South Zone Naparima College 2-1 in the Coca-Cola Intercol South semifinal in the first match of the double-header at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella, on Monday evening.

With many expecting an outright win for Naparima—which defeated the same opponents on both league this season—it was not to be as Presentation was the better team, securing a berth in the Thursday’s South final against Shiva Boys, which won the other semifinal in dramatic fashion over Pleasantville.

Presentation found the target early on from top scorer Shackiel Henry in the 7th minute. The lead was short lived, however, as the Naparima found a response from Akim Julien in the 24th, to put the two teams level at the half. With 12 minutes gone into the second half, the reliable forward, Henry, found his double, which ultimately secured the win.

Presentation were lucky to escape a late penalty which Naparima’s Akim Julien failed to convert late in the contest. In the second match, Shiva Boys came from 2-0 down with less than seven minutes to play in regulation time, to steal the match to penalty kicks, which they won 6-5.

Pleasantville, went 1-0 up in the 69th minute and doubled the lead, which had every indication to be the winner in the 79th minute. Shiva, however, brought themselves back into the match when Dwight Pope converted from the penalty spot in the 85th.

A poor defensive effort from Pleasantville saw Shiva Boys tie up the scoring in added time from a Nathaniel Garcia effort. His goal put the match to penalty kicks, which saw Shiva emerge victorious.

Arima North upset St Augustine

An own goal separated Arima North Secondary and St Augustine Secondary and an East Zone InterCol final spot. Arima North advanced to the East InterCol final with a 2-1 win over St Augustine in the first match of the two at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Arima, before San Juan North eased past El Dorado East 4-1 in the second fixture. An own goal from Jamal Creighton in the 75th minute was the deciding factor in the match.

Just moments before, Creighton scored a penalty to put St Augustine level with Arima. Kern Roberts opened the scoring for the winning team, just before the half. San Juan North had an easier task, breezing past El Dorado East 4-1, in the second fixture.

Signal Hill, Scarborough in Final

In Tobago, Signal Hill and Scarborough secured final spots as the two teams eased past Mason Hall and Speyside, respectively, in a goal fest at the Dwight Yorke Stadium.

In the first match, Signal Hill got goals from skipper Nariel Wilson, Shaquille Springer, Shaquille Smith and Shaquille Gill, to win 4-0 over Mason Hall.

Scarborough followed with a 7-0 rout over Speyside. Michael Gordon scored a second half hattrick, while brothers Chrislon Morgan and Christopher Morgan got a double and solo goal, respectively. Akeem Jordan scored the other goal.
