Presentation College San Fernando yesterday saw off Shiva Boys Hindu College with style 4-0 to win the Coca Cola InterCol South Zone at Mannie Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella.

The San Fernando team fought hard to create numerous attacking chances for a 1-0 half-time lead through Najja Forbes and finished off the South Zone league champions with a trio of late goals from J'Van Pontifelt and Shakiel Henry (2).

But the match was marred by a tantrum from Tevin Peters, who was sent off for a stamp on  Henry, who even after the incident refused to be placated by either referee Shane De Silva, or his coach, Dexter Francis.

The first half definitely went to Presentation as after a tense battle for midfield in the first 15 minutes, "Pres" took control, trying to build their plays from the back. They fought harder for the ball and their passing was more accurate.

Shiva defended hard, but allowed a little too much shooting space for the Pres strikers, who took nearly a half hour to find their range.

And when they came forward, Shiva were mostly restricted to shots from outside, except for a header just wide by Qwesi Weston and a cross whipped in by Nathaniel Garcia that only just missed the head of Shaquille Jogie just before the break which was their best chance of the half.

For Presentation, their goal was predictable after a period of pressure where captain Keegan Ellis had two powerful headers off corner kicks rising just overbar and a pair of misses from Shakiel Henry.

Forbes finally got the goal in the 27th, beating Shiva goalkeeper Adrian Lewis from point-blank range after a lovely cross from Amare Thomas on the right.

They could have had another in the 40th, but Javed London lacked that finishing touch after leaving three defenders in his wake from left of goal.

Presentation had a few chances go a-begging early in the second half, but Henry had two poor attempts and Mickell Charles forced Lewis to save a stinger.

Shiva had the perfect opportunity to equalise in the 70th, but Garcia was blocked close up after he hesitated, having collected a loose ball.

Shiva paid for that miss with a shot from close range that should have found Pontiflet off-side in the 76th. And while the Shiva players stopped to argue with the referee, Pontiflet poked home calmly.

A couple minutes later Peters was off and Henry took advantage.

First, he finished off a cutback from close range in the 83rd, before another neat close range finish in stoppage time as Presentation's passes bisected the two hapless Shiva central defenders.

Shiva had played with heart to chase a match for near 70 minutes, but in the end, it was Presentation lifting the InterCol South Zone trophy.

In related news, Vessigny claimed the Girls Intercol title yesterday, with a narrow 2-1 victory over Roxborough at the Dwight Yorke Stadium.
