Shiva Boys Hindu College and San Juan North Secondary will have their eyes set on a shown down in Monday’s final of the inaugural Secondary Schools Football League “Big-Four” Super Cup when semifinal matches take place this afternoon at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva.

In the opener from 3.30pm, newly crowned National Coca-Cola Inter-Col champions, San Juan North Secondary comes up against last year’s Premier Division and National Inter-Col winners, Naparima College.

On Monday last at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella, the Jerry Moe-coached San Juan North edged favourites, Presentation College of San Fernando 1-0 in the National Inter-Col thanks to a smartly taken Brandon Semper goal on the stroke of half-time to pick up a second title this season, after come-from-behind 2-1 win over bitter-rival St Augustine Secondary in the East Zone Inter-Col final.

And buoyed by only its second National Inter-Col triumph to add to its 3-2 win over Fatima College in the 2006 final, San Juan North led up front by Renaldo Boyce and marshalled at the back by Kyle Thomas and captain Lukeman Brooks, who was suspended for Monday’s match, should fancy their chances.

The Angus Eve-coached Naparima College failed in its bid to secure a third straight Premier Division and National Inter-Col crowns, both times being denied by Shiva Boys, and with this being its lone remaining chance at a title this season, coach Eve will look star striker Isaiah Lee to inspire his team-mates.

The day’s second match between Presentation College of San Fernando and Shiva Boys is expected to be some-what of a heated affair, with the latter no doubt still smarting from their South Zone Inter-Col loss, 2-1 on penalty-kicks after a 2-2 draw with today’s opponent.

The winners of today’s semifinal matches will face off in the final on Monday at Couva from 4.15 pm.
