Naparima College looks set to capture the South Zone title in the bg TT Secondary Schools Football League. And despite a 1-1 draw against Vessigny on Tuesday, Naparima maintained their pole position in the league.

Keagan Bacchus fired the home team Vessigny ahead in the fifth minute but Jason Joseph pulled one back in the 82nd to give the defending champions a share of the points.

Princes Town however were unable to take advantage of this slip as they were held 1-1 by St Benedict’s College at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella.

They now trail “Naps” by four points with two matches left to go.

In a relegation scrap for points, Moruga edged Siparia Secondary 3-2 and are now just two points ahead of Siparia who are now at the base of the standings with six points.

Meanwhile in the Central Zone, cellar-placed Tabaquite are in danger of being relegated as they were beaten 4-2 by Waterloo High who are now in second spot with 13 points.

Getting goals for Waterloo were Carlon Johnson with a brace and Wendell Archibald and Emmanuel Zamora with one each. Keron Knight and Casimir Pino scored one each in a losing effort.

Marabella Junior and Chaguanas battled to a 1-1 tie and Chaguanas will be grateful to pick up as many points as they can to avoid going down.

Carapichaima has already won the league and showed no respite as they geared up for the Big 5 with a 6-0 mauling of the former Central giants Presentation College.

Trent Lougheed put the defending champs ahead in the 24th but “Pres” held firm amidst an onslaught by their opponents.
The floodgates opened in the second period as Neil Woodruffe made it 2-0 in the 57th and Kevon Wilson added another in the 64th. The top scorer for the league Jeffon Cornwall bagged two goals (74th, 89th) while Loughleed scored one through the keeper’s legs in the 82nd.
