Naparima College and Mucurapo Senior Comprehensive will meet in the BG Trinidad and Tobago Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) Big Five final after hard-fought victories in yesterday's semi-finals at Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella.
Naparima sealed their spot in next Tuesday's final after defeating last season's winners San Juan Senior Comprehensive 1-0 in the second game of a double-header which also saw Mucurapo overcome a well-organised and determined Carapichaima Senior Comprehensive outfit 2-0.

In the first match, Caps should have gone ahead as early as the second minute after a penalty was awarded to the Central Zone champs when Akel Bruce infringed Andre Mohammed in the penalty area.

Captain Micheal Renaud stepped up to take the spot kick but he placed his shot just wide of the mark, not troubling Micheal Duff in goal for Mucurapo.

The action continued at the other end of the field in the ninth minute when Mucurapo's Jelani George found Mutar Taylor inside the six-yard box but Taylor's shot did not have the power to beat Caps' custodian Akiel Alfred, who managed to get his hand to it and palm it over the bar.

A minute later on the counter-attack, Kevon Wilson went on a penetrative run, taking the ball through midfield up to the penalty area, but it was Akel Rodriguez to the rescue for Mucurapo, clearing the ball before any damage could be done.

The action never eased up as Caps came right back on the attack through Scott Benny, whose powerful shot was deflected out of play by a diving Duff who barely managed to get his glove to it.

Two minutes later, Renaud almost gifted Mucurapo their first goal when his clearance left Peltier with the ball in the box but the captain recovered to scramble the ball clear.

Mucurapo went on the offensive when Kevin Molino threaded the ball through to Taylor, but he was crowded off the ball before he could take the shot.

That, however, did not deter Mucurapo whose good short passing and casual build-up from the midfield gave them their first goal in the 30th minute.

It started with Terrance Clarke at the half and he made a good run up the flank, put in a pinpoint cross to the feet of Molino who made no mistake in slotting it home past a helpless Alfred to give Mucurapo a 1-0 lead going into the break.

They started the second half just as furiously as the first, but this time it was Mucurapo who created the opening chance, with Molino taking a long-range shot in the 48th, but it was no trouble for Alfred, who looked solid between the posts.

Mucurapo's persistence was rewarded in the 60th when Peltier crossed the ball into the area and Andre Mohammed, who was tracking back, could not do anything as the ball came off him and into the goal.
