St Augustine Secondary, the reigning national and East Zone Secondary Schools Football League champion will have a chance to go top of its zonal table when it faces current leader San Juan North Secondary from 3.45 pm today.
The top of the table clash will take place at the home ground of the “Green Machine’ at Warren Street, St Augustine.
Unbeaten San Juan, heads the seven-team table with eight points, one ahead of St Augustine and Arima North Secondary. However, San Juan is coming off a 0-0 draw with El Dorado East on Wednesday while the Green Machine clobbered cellar-placed Barataria South 10-0.
El Dorado East, three points off the top will hope to keep pace with the leaders as it hunts three points away to Toco while Barataria South entertains Trinity East.
Down South, joint second placed teams Shiva Boys’ and Pleasantville, both with nine points, face off, with a chance to go top of the table as leader, Presentation College (12 points) is on a bye.
A double-header is also scheduled for the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium where St Benedict’s will go after its first point against mid-table Princes Town West from 3 pm, followed by defending champion, Naparima versus Vessigny.
In the North, defending champion, St Anthony’s College (12), having regained the lead with victory over East Mucurapo on Wednesday, will be favourites to preserve its 100 per cent winning record when it faces bottom-of-the table Malick.
Fatima, buoyed by its 3-2 victory over Queen’s Royal College is at home to St Mary’s College while the Royalians is at home to Trinity College.
