Not even goal difference could separate Yorke's Pride and Under20 Young Gunners at the end of the first round of the 1976 F.C. Phoenix Champions League. Both teams ended their nine match schedule locked on 22 points with a goal difference of plus 14 to install themselves as favourites for the Big Six competition scheduled to begin after the Carnival break.

In their final match, Yorkes Pride was pushed all the way by cellar place Airport F.C. but managed to come away winners by a 3-2 margin. Davarel Mc Pherson shocked the home fans by scoring the fastest goal of the competition inside the first minute to give Airport the lead. However, Brent Cruickshank and Dominic Kerr responded for Yorke's Pride to restore some normalcy before the half. Keiron Waldron then tied up the scores with eight minutes remaining. Kayode Legall then scored a bullet from an acute angle down the right flank to seal the issue for the 'Pride'.

Not to be outdone, Young Gunners hammered four unanswered goals past Bay Boys Chelsea two days later with two goals from Darryl Trim and one each from Akim Baynes and Omar Charles.

Milford Court finished their schedule in fourth place on 17 points with a 2-1 victory over Masters and a 1-1 draw with Bay Boys.

Sean Christmas netted a double for the winners while Roy Clarke scored the consolation for Masters. Ashley Mc Millan scored for Milford Court before being sent off against Bay Boys who responded with an equalizer from the boot of Andre Robinson to give his team a share of the points. Bay Youth finished in the sixth position on 15 points to qualify for the next round.

Buccoo, who have already qualified for the next phase of the competition with 15 points, edged Masters 3-2 with a Selvin Duncan's double and one from Sheldon Johnson. Terry Williams struck a double in a losing cause for Masters who have failed to qualify for the next round.

Following them out of the competition are Airports Authority who registered a 4-2 win in their penultimate game versus Clapham who are also out and Under-17 Fifth Elements. Nigel Alexander and Kerlon Clarke both notched doubles for Airports while Jamal Jack responded with two for Clapham.
