Less than a week after playing to a draw with reigning champion Enterprise Youths, Coosal’s Las Lomas recorded its first victory of the Central Football Association (CFA) Premier Division season when it eased past Cap Off Youths 4-0, in the second fixture of a double header played at Edinburgh 500 Ground, Chaguanas, on Friday.
The result which saw Las Lomas soar to the top to of the Henry Franklin Group was followed by a 2-1 win for Edinburgh 500 over Fire Services.
The feature match, however, had Las Lomas continue its scoring spree from the season-opening 3-3 tie with Enterprise, without conceding a goal. Kadeem Boyce scored the only item of the first half, before Las Lomas put the match to rest with a further three goals in the second from Michael Julien, Ricky Singh and Kareem Joseph.
Three matches were also played in the Hugo Francis Group, with Perseverance United finishing the match day to of the table following a resounding 6-0 win over Flamengo.
The second round of matches in both groups will be played tomorrow, at various times. Only one round two fixture will be played on Wednesday, when Perseverance Ball Runners faces Eagles FC at the Hugo Francis Recreation Ground, from 6 pm.
Both Groups, A and B, consist of seven teams, and at the conclusion of all league matches, the top three teams in each group will advance to a Big-Six competition, where the league champion will be determined.
