Andel Andrews scored a first-half double as Police whipped Maple 3-1 for its fifth straight win in the Northern Football Association Premier Division on Sunday.

Andrew opened the scoring at the St James Barracks, in the 25th minute and added a second three minutes for a 2-0 half-time lead.

However, seven minutes after the resumption Maple pulled a goal back only for Darnell Julien to seal all three points for the Lawmen with a 71st minute strike.

Police now has maximum 15 points from its five matches, five clear of defending champions Queen’s Park Cricket Club and Petit Valley United.

The Parkites followed up their FA Trophy round-of-16 win over Petit Valley with a 3-0 spanking of the same opponents with goals from Jerome Charles (27th), Joshua Du Coudray (46th) and Benedict Barrett (83rd).

In the other Premier matches, last year’s runner-up, St Francois Nationals continued to slip down the table after it was held to a 2-2 draw by cellar-placed RSSR. FC 1 whipped New Millenium 3-1 for its first win of the season and CMFA hammered Football Factory, 4-1.

Carenage takes First Division lead

Adrian Marshall banged in a double to lead Carenage to a convincing 4-1 pounding of Cosmos Eagles in their top-of-the-table First Division meeting on Saturday at Carenage Recreation Ground, Haigh Street, Carenage.

Shaquille Perez fired the host ahead in the tenth minute before Marshall notched his pair, in the 17th and 27th followed by a fourth item from Clint Williams on the stroke of half-time.

Eight minutes after the re-start Mark Charles of Carenage turned the ball into his own net for an Eagles consolation, as the host took charge of the standings with maximum 12 points, two more than its opponent.

At New Ground, Queen’s Park Savannah, Port Celtic joined Eagles in second spot after crushing Malvern 4-1 led by two goals from Andrew Bailey while at Coconut Drive, Stefon Ragoo, Shaquille Long and Kevon Durham all scored twice as Saddle Hill Hot Spurs routed Morvant Elements, 7-0, and Barataria Warriors blanked Paragon 2-0.
