GEMS (Global Encounter Ministries) moved closer towards retaining their Churches Football League Grand Knockout title when they edged West End 1-0 in the first leg of their quarter-final match-up recently.

Dacien John found the back of the net for GEMS against the 2012 Knockout champions.

The winner of the GEMS-West End duel will meet the winner of the Greater Malabar Christian Centre (GMCC)-Daybreak United tie.

GMCC and Daybreak drew their first leg meeting 1-1 with Kevon Crick finding the back of the net for GMCC while Michael Williams scored for Daybreak.

New Testament Warriors whipped SFX Amen 3-1 in their first leg tussle. Andrew Lowman scored twice while Nicholas Narine got the other for New Testament. Amen’s consolation item was scored by Jacinto Rampersad.

Cumuto Strike Force, in the other first leg battle, got a 3-0 win, by default, over Church on the Rock. The second legs were scheduled to take place on Saturday.
