Carenage Boys Government School on Friday  recorded their eighth lien on the Atlantic sponsored Port of Spain and Environs Football League Trophy when they beat Eastern Boys Government 3-1 at Fatima College Ground in Mucurapo.


The Port of Spain champions went  ahead on a slippery Fatima Ground when  Jamokie Cassimy hit home from close range in the 15th minute of the game. However, Eastern Boys did not lie down but battled back to equalise in the 24th minute through Haile Beckles header.

At the interval the score was tied at 1-1. Carenage went ahead once again in the 40th minute when Joshua Sylvester hit a good right-footer in the corner oif the net.

Though Eastern Boys  Gov’t battled back and saw the Carenage cuistodian making a few good saves to kep his team  in the lead, the chamopion went further ahead in the 50th minutes through Carlon Hosten, who was brought down in the box and converted from the penalty spot. In the closing stages to there credit Eastern Boys keppt pushing forward but the cross-bar stood in their part on two ocassions.

When referee Inskip Carrington whistle blew it signalled that Carenage Boys had won their eight Port of Spain title. In the Girl’s Final, Port-of-Spain Champions St Agnes AC won the title for an unprecedented third occasion when they beat Carenage Girls Government 2-0.

St Agnes led by the talented Kaydeen Jack had the better in the first half when Shanica Guishardscored with a low drive in the 11th minute. Jack then scored the goal of the match when hitting home from fifteen metres out. Carenage Girls fought bravely but could not penetrate the St Agnes defence.
