Three different players were on target as Marabella Family Crisis Centre moved a step closer to qualification for the National Super League after edging host Malta Carib Alcons, 3-2 in their penultimate T&T Football Association Champion of Champions qualifiers.



With Northern Football Association Premier Division champions, Police FC already certain of one of the three promotion spots, the race was on for the remaining two places among the five other teams.

And Marabella Family, the Southern Football Association Premier Division winners, climbed to the brink of qualification with goals from Akida Boissiere, Quintel John and Kevin Moodie to cancel out items from Jamil Young and Niqell De Matas at the at Maracas Recreation Ground, St Joseph.

With the win, Marabella Family improved its points tally to seven from four matches, and one rescheduled fixture against Tobago Football Association’s Sidey’s FC at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella, tomorrow (Wednesday) from 4pm.

Despite the loss, Alcons, the Eastern Football Association Premier Division champions, and second from bottom with three points from four matches, still has a slim chance at qualification, but must beat Sidey’s FC in its remaining fixture and hope other results go its way.

In Sunday’s other match, Police closed out its campaign with a 1-1 draw away to Central champions, Cunupia FC ) at Edinburgh 500 Recreation Ground, Chaguanas with Osei Charles and Jamal Spencer, with a penalty, the scorers.

The other match between Matura Reunited, the  Eastern Counties Football Union’s Matura Reunited champions and Sidey’s FC Tobago Football Association Premier Division carded for Matura Recreation Ground, Matura was rescheduled for Thursday at the same venue from 4 pm.
