Jody Alsop fired in a late winner as Guaya United edged Bethel United 2-1 to extend its lead at the top of the CNG Super League Premier Division table on Thursday.

With second place Defence Force not in action after its match against Real Maracas was postponed, Guaya had a chance to strengthen its hold on top spot. After a 0-0 first half, former national midfielder Ryan Stewart got the go-ahead item in the 58th. That lead lasted until the 79th minute as Teejay Cadiz got the host levelled at the Mt Gomery Ground. But with a minute left in the match, Alsop snatched the winner for the visitors.

The victory lifted Guaya to 34 points from 15 matches, three ahead of Defence Force which has a match in hand. At Canaan Ground, 1976 FC Phoenix stayed in the hunt with 27 points after bashing rivals Stokely Vale 5-1 with a goal from five different players.
