Newly crowned Tobago Football Association Premier Division champions, St Clair Coaching School are fancied to secure one of the two promotions spot when the six-team T&T Football Federation National Super League Qualifying Competition kick off on Saturday with three matches.
In addition to St Clair CS, the other teams involved are West Side Stars (Northern Football Association), Siparia Spurs (Southern Football Association), Real Maracas (Eastern Football Association), Eagles United (Central Football Association) and Matura Reunited (Eastern Counties Football Union).
On Saturday, St Clair, which will play its first three matches in the round-robin series at home will tackle Eagles United at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Bacolet from 3.30pm.
In the other matches which also kick off at 3.30pm, Stars meets Spurs at Paragon Ground, Queen’s Park Savannah while Matura Reunited is at home to Real Maracas at Matura Recreation Ground. At the end of match day five, the top two teams will advance to this year’s bmobile National Super League.
Looking ahead to the promotion playoff tournament Neville Ferguson, the Secretary of the Competitions and Tournament Committee said this year the T&TFF expects the action to be even more gripping and exciting than last season.
“There continues to be a growing interest from teams to be part of the Super League. We are looking forward to a fair and well contested tournament and season ahead in 2011,” Ferguson added.
T&TEC ended the 2010 season as double champions, finishing ahead of second placed 1976 FC Phoenix. The top six-placed finishers in the 2010 league which is yet to be determined due to some outstanding matches before the T&TFF’s Disciplinary Committee will also take part in the Toyota Classic which involves the Digicel Pro League clubs.
