Carib FC responded from an early deficit to secure all three points in the first match of the Eastern Football Association (EFA) Premier Division season, on Sunday, following a 3-1 win over Boss FC, at St Augustine Ground.
Boss FC opened in the tenth minute with a Kevon Guy effort and it took all but 30 minutes into the match for Carib to get its first goal from Darien Gill to level the scores.
Moments before the hour mark, David Gill gave Carib its first lead of the match, before Kerron Edwards wrapped up the win with a goal in the 75th minute.
The win put Carib on top of the standings on goal difference, ahead of Valtrin United, which was the only other team to secure a win on the opening day. Dwight Crichlow scored in the 67th minute in Valtrin’s 1-0 victory over Tunapuna Titans.
In other results, T&T Prisons and SKHY FC played to a 1-1 draw, while Joe Public came from a goal down twice to hold St John’s United to a 2-2 draw.
In the First Division, Bourg Mulatresse (BM) Spurs took the spotlight as it celebrated its first ever league outing with a massive 6-0 win over Eastern Alliance, at home at the Bourg Mulatresse Recreation Ground, Santa Cruz.
Five difference players were on target, Kirk Craig (19th), Nkosi Quashie (27th), Joshua St Rose (35th), Clint Raymond (47th), Warren Straker (51st), Bevon Bowers (56th).
House of Dread (2-0 over Malta Carib FC) and Arima Arawak (2-1 over Sparta TT) were the other clubs to record wins, while the fixtures between FCM Supreme XI FC and Cromptom SC, and Creek SCC versus Barataria Ball Players, resulted in 2-2 draws, respectively.
The meeting between T&T Air Guard and Step by Step failed to kick off.
