Petrotrin Palo Seco remained in the hunt for a Cup double in the Southern Football Association after reaching both the League Cup and Executive Cup finals against Marabella Family Crisis Centre and the University of T&T (UTT), respectively.

First up for Petrotrin Palo Seco was the League Cup semifinal second-leg against Big Dreams, which it won 2-1 for a 7-3 aggregate triumph.

Jason Gross and Willan Garcia netted for Petrotrin to cancel out Nigel John’s strike for Big Dreams in the second-leg encounter at Palo Seco Velodrome.

When both clubs met in the first-leg at the same venue, Petrotrin Palo Seco was much more emphatic with Jamal Ayres scoring a beaver-trick and Tigana Sparks, the other in a 5-2 thumping of Big Dreams which got two goals from John.

Its opponent in the League Cup final, Marabella Family Crisis Centre, was also in a no-nonsense mood and trounced Point Fortin Civic 6-0 with four goals from former national Under-20 World Cup midfielder Stephan Campbell and one each by Patrick Pierre and Priston Khan for a 9-1 aggregate score.

When both teams met in the first-leg Marabella used goals from Campbell, Pierre and Shavon Frederick in their 3-1 whipping of Pt Fortin which had Michael Frederick on target.

Meanwhile in the Executive Cup semifinals, Petrotrin Palo Seco got the better of Penal All Stars 3-2 on penalty-kicks after a 1-1 draw while UTT spanked Rangers 8-0 led by a hat-trick from Jamal Creighton.
