Naparima College’s march towards a successful defence of its BGTT/First Citizens Secondary Schools Football Premier Division League crown was slowed a bit after it was held to a goalless draw by fellow southerners Fyzabad at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva, yesterday.

However, the statement did not hamper the Angus Eve-coached Naparima squad that much as most of its title contenders, Shiva Boys, Presentation College of San Fernando, St Anthony’s College and St Benedict’s College all failed to get full results from their encounters as well, with only San Juan North coming away with a 2-1 win over St Mary’s College.

The drawn result sees Naparima now up to 26 points from 11 matches and three left to play. Shiva Boys, which drew 1-1 away to St Anthony’s is next with 22 points, one ahead San Juan North, Presentation College of San Fernando and St Benedict’s which battled to a 0-0, and St Anthony’s.

Mid-table duo, Trinity College of Moka and Queen’s Royal College battled to a 2-2 deadlock while at the bottom of the table, cellar-placed Trinity College East got two goals each from Kishorn Hackshaw and Nickel Orr to beat Speyside 4-1, for its first win of the season; Fatima and Carapichaima East ended 0-0.
